Plant source: Melissa officinalis, a perennial herbaceous plant belonging to the Labiatae family. Common names: Nosebleed Grass, Dianjing

Mustard, Jingjie Mustard, Tujing Mustard, Mint, and Xiaofanggan Grass.

Melissa officinalis, also known as Lemon perfume mint, is a perennial herb belonging to Labiatae of Melissaceae. It is stick shaped, thick at the

top and thin at the bottom, slightly curved, 2~3cm long, about 3mm in diameter at the top and 1.5mm in diameter at the bottom. The surface is

yellow white or greenish white, with gradually deepening color after storage, and is densely covered with short pubescence. Occasionally, leafy

bracts are seen. Calyx green, apex 5-lobed, lobes hairy, approximately 2mm long. The opening corolla is tubular, with a 2-lipped apex; 5

stamens, attached to the tube wall, yellow; 1 pistil, ovary glabrous. The air is fragrant and the taste is light.
